Have you ever had someone try to clicker train you?

How did you do?

Did you understand what the task was that was expected of you?

Was it a simple or more complex task?

What was the timing like of the person training you?

When you think about clicker training, remember that we understand the rules before we even start, our dogs don't.

Our timing on clicking needs to be 'spot on' or the dog will think they are being rewarded for the wrong thing. So as humans do we have perfect timing?

Try this:

Think of something simple you would like someone to do, such as sit down and clicker train them.

Now move on to something more complex, such as put their left foot on the seat of a chair/sofa and their left hand on the back of it.

Now see if you can teach them to touch their ear or stand on one leg.

You can't use words, only the clicker.

Did they understand what you wanted them to do?

How long did it take?

Did you give hints?

How was your timing?

How did they feel?

How did you feel?

Remember, we understand the rules of clicker training before we start, our dogs don't!

How do you feel about clicker training your dog now?

I leave you to make your own choices, how many choices do our dogs have?
